The “Chartered Banker” Fast Track Accountancy Conversion Course

Who will benefit from studying this course? This conversion course is specifically designed for qualified accountants who wish to improve their general knowledge of banking and financial services, and who wish to develop their careers in banking and financial services.
In a world where the customer is becoming increasingly sophisticated and finance-aware, the ability of the finance professional to ‘stand out from the crowd’ is not only desirable but is pretty much essential. Chartered Banker visible demonstrates the expertise and professionalism that customers are seeking and certainly appears to be a qualification for the future. Programme Structure The Course comprises of three subjects Two core subjects - Professionalism and Ethics - Financial Economics Plus one option subject from - Business Banking - Retail Banking - UK Financial Services Offering of any option subjects is subject to sufficient enrolment. Normal Duration 9 months Delivery Mode Distance learning with optional tuition conducted by Chartered Banker Institute approved tutors. Language Medium English Assessment Each of the subjects will be assessed by written examination in Hong Kong. Recognition "AHKIB and Chartered Banker" Mutual Recognition AgreementOn 14 April 2008, the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (CIOBS) signed an agreement of mutual recognition for their issuing qualifications. In YouGov, UK, surveys carried out in 2009: 88% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that "all bankers should take professional banking exams" 57% of business decision makers agreed or strongly agreed that they "would rather be a customer of a bank where their Relationship Manager was a Chartered Banker". MSc in Professional BankingEdinburgh Napier University Developed by the Edinburgh Napier University in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. This unique programme offers qualified 'Chartered Banker' the opportunity to obtain a Master qualification along with the professional status of Chartered Banker of the CIOBS. Holders of Chartered Banker qualification of the CIOBS by examination are only required to complete two modules and one project for the award of MSc in Professional Banking qualification. The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)The 'Chartered Financial Planner' professional qualification is a premier title for financial advice professionals. Chartered Bankers are only required to complete five subjects* for the award of Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. Those candidates who meet the work experience requirements can then apply for 'Chartered Financial Planner' professional qualification. * One 30-credit subject of the Diploma in Financial Planning # and four 30-credit subjects of the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. # Chartered Bankers are eligible for the award of Diploma in Financial Planning upon completion of the 30-credit Diploma subject. Admit to the final subject of IIA Diploma in Internal Audit Practice - accelerated route, offered by Chartered Institute of Internal Audirors (CIIA); and then work towards Chartered Internal Auditor status.
