How does it work?
Programme Structure - This course is made up of three (3) stages:

Through consultation with your tutor, professional body mentor and employer, you'll develop a learning plan that's tailored to your individual needs.
Programmes are run in a structured environment with assessment deadlines.
Flexible online learning nature enable you to plan your study periods around your work and personal commitment without the need to attend fixed lectures or tutorials.
University tutor will support you and help you navigate through your studies.
Online student communities such as discussion forums will also provide the opportunity to engage with fellow peers.
You will undertake studies and access course content through University virtual learning platform - blackboard.

- You will require mentoring and support from a Chartered Engineer.
- An appropriate mentor may be sourced via your relevant engineering institute or workplace.

Through the combination of the MSc Professional Engineering and worked based learning you can achieve the academic qualifications and professional development required to apply for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
In additional to the MSc, you must have relevant work experience to apply for Chartership. This varies depending on your engineering institute but is generally 3-5 years' experience at a senior/principle engineer level with responsibility during this time for a range of projects and areas. 3 years, part-time study
A mixture of formative and summative assessment will be employed. The assessment strategy aims, on a formative level, to enable you to continuously develop your development towards your registration to CEng.
The nature of assessment is based on the module and subject area, as well as the requirement of the professional bodies for CEng registration.
Some modules are assessed through coursework only; while others by a combination of coursework, assignments, case studies, oral and graphic presentations, etc.
- Holders of BSc/BEng (Hons) degree accredited for either IEng or as part of CEng
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant industrial or engineering experience
- English language proficiency
- If you don't have a degree or an accredited degree,
the University may consider your application if supported by significant industrial experience within the engineering sector.
